Section 18
Can be employed as a trained worker
: (1) An employer may employ a person by teaching and training.
(2) The period of training as per sub-section (1) shall not exceed one year. But if a period is prescribed by the prevailing law for training for special work or if a special period is required, he can be employed as a trainee until that period.
(3) According to this section, the employer shall provide facilities such as minimum wage, sick leave and gratuity, provident fund, insurance and other social security to the person employed as a trainee.
(4) The employer shall not be obliged to employ the trainee after the completion of the training period. But if the same employer hires the trainee, the trial period will not be applicable in his case.
